Here we go again!

Time to go back to school!!!! While most college students are getting ready for their finals and a nice, long, beautiful summer break, I'm preparing to hit the books for round 2 in the Ultimate College Showdown, Rexburg edition. Last semester was all A's, and with any luck (and many long nights in the Clark building) we can hope for a repeat preformance.
I'm so psyched to start this semester. I have some amazing classes lined up. My interior design classed include color theory, drafting, and a side of textiles. I've heard from several friends that they are supposed to be pretty difficult but I also hear that they are amazing. I love Bro Parson and can't wait to work with him, and I'm excited to get to know Bro Julander.
I'm also excited for many of my other (non major) courses, especially my world religions course. This promises to be an amazing year. Only 15 more days left!!!

Line Project

ALRIGHT! The moment you have been waiting for! I have finally recieved some projects back from my professors so I can post them here for you to enjoy. Each one will get it's own post starting with the first and possibly the most difficult to date. Line. This project was completed in pen, using lines of different thicknesses to portray form, shade, light, and depth.

Current Love Affair

I've been loving Ikea lately. And Target. I know it's not really...designer-y, but with featured items by Michael Graves and other fantastic designers at prices that even a college student can afford, well those type of things make me happy. So what if the bed from Ikea doesn't last thirty years, it will last five or six and then I can afford another, better quality one, but for the mean time let me play with some amazing styles that I wouldn't be brave enough to play with if I was spending $3,000.
One of my favorite looks right now is the geometric, sleek, almost minimaliztic look in furniture. Paired of course with some very natural elements for an ecclectic look. Ikea is the perfect place for the furniture and I've been able to use some local Alaskan artists for some amazing accent peices like a coffee table made from a sand blasted tree stump (roots and all) topped with an over turned with an organically shaped pane of glass.

Texture Ball

So I am about half way done with my new project due this next week. Its a tactile texture project where we adhere some type of material to a 4 inch Styrofoam ball to create a decorative ball that is interesting to look at and to touch. This year, we have a theme of recycled objects. I chose to use 1"X1" squares of newspaper, pinned in place. There are three rings of colored newspaper (food ads) that has been completed and the triangles in between will be in the black and white print. I'll get some pictures up as soon as I can but for now here are some other examples.

Welcome

Welcome to the blog! Here I will be putting scans of my projects(the greads if they are good), links to products and designs that I love, and maybe even some information on the amazing program that I am a part of. Because I have yet to have any of my graded projects returned to me (possibly a good sign) I have none of that to show you at this time, so for now I will share a wonderful lighting artist that my professor, Sis. Harris showed us after a department trip to Sun Valley.www.sharonmarston.com She specializes in fiberoptic lighting.
